Rancho-Santa-Fe-2-optimizedWith a population of less than 6,000, these luxury communities are some of the most prestigious in California.  Rancho Santa Fe has the fourteenth most expensive ZIP code in the United States (According to a 2011 Forbes Report) and it is one of the highest income communities with a population of at least 1,000.

At the center of town is a single street of shops, offices, restaurants, a top-rated school and a library. Outside of the downtown area, there are over 1,000 homes; however, you wouldn’t realize this because most of them are situated on extremely large lots (most over 2 acres) and not visible from the roads.   This luscious area is full of extensive trails and numerous world-class golf courses and country clubs.

There are nine major communities in Rancho Santa Fe including The Covenant–which is the oldest, The Bridges, Cielo, The Crosby, Hacienda Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch, Del Mar Country Club, Whispering Palms and Rancho Pacifica.  The largest of these communities are The Covenant with 1,900+ home sites, Fairbanks Ranch with 600+ home sites and Cielo with 520 home sites.  Many of these beautiful communities are gated and boast elaborate amenities such as luxurious pools, beautiful lakes, pristine tennis courts, world-class golf courses, fine-dining restaurants and gorgeous parks.

Rancho Santa Fe real estate is home to the elite; many celebrities and national leaders reside here or have called the area home at some point.  Homes for sale average at around $2.5 million and there are plenty of lots for sale for those interested in real estate investment or development.

Real Estate development is not the easiest with the community’s stringent codes on architecture and landscaping that demand a Spanish Mediterranean style with a lush landscape for new homes.  There are many homeowners associations that exist to protect the aesthetics of the this area.

Another notable characteristic of Rancho Santa Fe is the philanthropic spirit of the community.  Residents are involved in and generously donate to many local and regional causes and organizations.  Some of the local organizations include the Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club, The Country Friends, Kids Korps USA and the Beach and Country Guild.

Rancho Santa Fe is also an incredible place for children to be educated. The school system includes two award-winning elementary school districts — The Rancho Santa Fe School District and the Solana Beach School District. There are several middle and high school options and numerous private schools in the area as well.

As far as weather goes, Rancho Santa Fe enjoys the temperate climate typical of San Diego county that averages in the 70’s in the summer and in the 50’s and 60’s in the winter. Residents of this community are fortunate to be far enough away from the coast so they don’t experience the typical “marine layer” that overcasts the coastal areas but are close enough to the coast so they don’t experience the extreme heat of the desert or inland communities.
